Bailey

This week has been a historical one in House Charlton. After almost four years, my pup Bailey has finally learned how to fetch. Apart of me thinks he always knew how but sometimes Bails can be uber lazy and decide to just watch the ball roll by.

Box Braids

In keeping up with the #NoHeatDecember challenge, I have been trying to find different ways to style my braids. This week I came up with what I call "The Wolverine". There might actually be a real name for it but eh, it's The Wolverine to me. If you want to see the hairstyles in advance, you can find them here with the hashtag, #NoHeatDecember.

R & The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

R and I have decided to hang out the entire weekend. We have remained really good friends and I'm thankful for that.

On Friday night, we decided to see The Hobbit. When it comes to mythology, fantasy, dungeons & dragons or anything medieval, I am such a geek! A chick geek of course. Two of my favorite actors and crushes were cast in The Desolation of Smaug. Can you guess who? They're both British :) Ok so that didn't make it any easier. Another hint would be, one of them portrayed a pirate and the other, a musketeer. I'm sure you've figured it out by now.

Now back to the movie.

The Desolation of Smaug was action packed and full of wizardry. It did not disappoint but then again, I don't think LOTR or The Hobbit can ever disappoint me. I'm so excited for the final instalment next Christmas! Has anyone else seen it as yet? How did you like it?

Sushi

On Saturday night, R suggested that we head out for sushi. Eesh LOVES sushi! Instead of our usual sushi spot, we headed to a place called Seafront Sushi. It's been years since we were last here and since then, they've moved to a new location. When we got there, we were escorted upstairs to a booth where we sat bare-feet on cushions. R wasn't too happy but I did insist on a booth rather than a table. We both started with appetizers and one entree. R isn't really a big sushi fan so he stuck with the Shrimp Shumai as an appetizer and desert. I chowed on Sapporo Rolls for starters and we shared the Shrimp Udon (noodles) as an entree. For desert, we tried the Tempura Guava Duff. Guava duff is a Bahamian delicacy and we heard rave reviews about it at Seafront. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the duff. I called it "struggle food" because R and I struggled to get through it...and we shared a plate. Everything else was absolutely delish! The service could have been a smidgen better but it was acceptable I suppose. At one point, the waiter forgot my to send in my order. Overall, it was a beautiful night with a rather handsome man.

Snail mail

via
Tis' the season where gifts are exchanged but since I can't really afford gifts right now, and snail mail is much cheaper I'd like to send out written letters and holiday cards. If you'd like to receive snail mail from me, simply send me an email with your name and address at a.latoyacharlton@gmail.com with the Subject, Snail Mail! I hope to hear from all of you!

Happy Holidays!

  2. I'm loving all of your favorite things!

Your box braids are perfection. I love the "highlights"!

Sushi, I am so in the mood for sushi. I haven't had some in forever. I need to fix that asap. Glad that you and R are still such good friends. That makes me smile.

The Hobbit is on our list of movies to watch. We were suppose to watch it last Friday but with Sean's crazy schedule we were unable to. Hopefully on the 24th we'll be able to.

Glad you had a great weekend!

I agree with you; LOTR never disappoints. Did the movie meet your expectations after having read the book?

    1. Thanks hun.

There were a few changes from the book but it always deviated back to the original storyline.

  4. Hi Eesh, Teen daughter uses the term "struggle food" for the lowest junk food on the totem pole that is eaten during studying for tests and finals...when a teen is struggling--with the hot flamin' melt-in-your-mouth puffs. Ya know?!!!

Can't wait to see The Hobbit! :D
